HearthGlow Privacy Policy

The app does save information locally to make its features work. Optional music controls and purchases also interact with external services. Those activities are described below.

Information on your device

HearthGlow saves preferences such as your scene, brightness, sound settings, selected music service, and floating-player position. It also saves launch counts and reminder dates locally to space out optional support reminders. These are not uploaded to the developer.

Microphone

With your permission, Ambient Music uses the microphone to respond to nearby sound. Audio is briefly buffered and analyzed in memory on your device. HearthGlow does not save microphone recordings, retain an audio history, or upload or transmit microphone audio. You can turn Microphone off in the app or revoke access in your device’s privacy settings. The visuals can continue without microphone access.

Motion sensors

On supported devices, motion and orientation readings add movement to flame effects. These readings are processed locally, are not saved as a history, and are not transmitted by HearthGlow.

Optional music controls

HearthGlow can display current-track information and send playback commands to a selected music application. It does not build a listening-history profile or ask for your music-service password. Selecting None hides the controller without stopping the other app’s playback.

• Apple Music: On iPhone and iPad, authorized system music access supplies playback state, current-track information, and artwork. On Mac, permission-based Automation controls the Music app and reads the current track.
• Spotify: On iPhone and iPad, Spotify’s official remote-control software connects to the Spotify app. A returned authorization token is saved securely in the device’s Keychain for reconnection. On Mac, Automation controls Spotify and reads current-track information; artwork is downloaded from the image address Spotify supplies.
• Plexamp: On Mac, HearthGlow communicates with Plexamp on the same computer to read current playback and issue controls. A locally generated controller identifier and connection port are saved for reconnection. This control path does not contact a Plex server or download music. On iPhone and iPad, HearthGlow currently offers an Open Plexamp handoff instead of integrated playback controls.

Music playback remains with the selected player. Authorization, artwork, and provider features may involve network requests, exposing the usual connection information, such as an IP address, to the service receiving them. Provider and operating-system caches may retain artwork. Apple, Spotify, and Plex operate under their own privacy practices; HearthGlow does not control those practices. Disabling the controller does not erase previously saved authorization.

Optional support purchase

Apple processes the Support HearthGlow purchase through the App Store. HearthGlow requests product information and checks verified purchase status to recognize supporters and restore purchases. It does not receive payment-card details or send purchase records to a developer-operated server.

Other access and data use

HearthGlow does not access your location, contacts, photos, or camera. It does not sell user information or include a remote analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting service. App settings are not synced through a HearthGlow cloud service.

This website and support email

This site uses no analytics, cookies, advertising, or external fonts. GitHub Pages hosts it; GitHub logs visitor IP addresses for security. See GitHub’s Privacy Statement.

If you email support, the developer receives your email address and whatever information you choose to send so they can respond. Email is handled by the email services involved. Please do not send passwords, authorization tokens, or payment details.

Changes and questions

This policy may be updated when HearthGlow’s features or data practices change. The effective date above will identify the latest revision.
